Football Fan Source Breakdown

Joe Namath QuoteWelcome to the Football Fan Source NFL Breakdown Blog!

The point of this page? Discussion. I personally love to watch, discuss and  football. Like anybody else, I have my opinions and this is where I write them. This is where I make season projections, discuss season trends and do my best to “breakdown” teams and players around the NFL. With that said, I am just one guy and this is merely my opinion. I try to do my best in researching teams and players before posting my thoughts, but I have limited resources and, despite my love for football, a relatively limited knowledge of the intricacies of the game. On top of that, I can’t watch every team every game, so if you read through any of these posts and don’t agree with me, that’s perfectly fine. Feel free to contact me through the contact form and we can talk football.

Declaring Winners From Free Agency Trades

Simply put… the first day of free agency was crazy with blockbuster trades and monster signings. On a day unlike any, perhaps in the history of the NFL offseason, major names were moved around and fans were left to weep into their suddenly out of date jerseys. I get it. It’s business, but at the end of the day, these trades mean something huge on the field and everyone wants to know, who comes out on top. Free agency is still in full swing, but we can afford to pass initial judgement on these trades that are, in many  ways,...

Super Bowl XLIX Prediction

Super Bowl XLIX Prediction

Here it is. My Super Bowl XLIX prediction. After months of hard-fought games and tough calls, we simultaneously crown a champion and say good-bye for football until next August. Bittersweet. Two weeks ago, I was 2-0 in my Conference Championship picks. I’m looking to keep the good times rolling into the Super Bowl. Let’s just hope we aren’t looking at another forgettable Super Bowl like last season’s blowout. So we have Seattle and New England. We all sort of thought these teams would be here (I guess I...

Does “Deflategate” Really Matter?

As we approach the pinnacle of the NFL season, we have ourselves yet another controversy, just when we were moving on from Adrian Peterson, Greg Hardy, Ray McDonald, Ray Rice and the domestic abuse issues that plagued the first couple weeks of the regular season. Welcome to “Deflategate”. If you are somehow still unaware, this is the controversy swirling around the AFC Champion New England Patriots. As the story goes, during the AFC Championship Game against Indianapolis last weekend, an interception by Colts linebacker...

Conference Championship Predictions – 2014

And then there were four… Here we are at Conference Championship weekend in the NFL and we are down to Green Bay, Seattle, Indianapolis and New England. Last week, I started strong at 2-0 after Saturday’s games, but couldn’t shake the .500 playoff prediction rate as I dropped both on Sunday, missing on Green Bay and Indianapolis and finishing 2-2 on Divisional Round picks. – What gives Denver? We didn’t know Peyton Manning was hurt that bad. A torn quad is something that most certainly will impact a quarterbacks...

Divisional Playoff Predictions – 2014

Here we are, heading into the divisional playoff round. We finally get to see what a first-round bye does for each conferences top-two seeds and if any of the wild card winners can keep up their momentum. In last week’s Wild Card Predictions, I finished 2-2. I missed on Baltimore and Indianapolis. – I picked Pittsburgh and Cincinnati and was burnt on both. The injuries to Le’Veon Bell and A.J. Green, suffered in their Week 17 clash against each other) were too much for each team to overcome. Pittsburgh wasn’t balanced...

Wild Card Weekend Predictions – 2014

Happy new year! What better way to get into the new year than with playoff football anyway? As for my final picks of Week 17, I was 13-3. I only missed on Buffalo, New York [Jets] and Pittsburgh. Now this week we get into some wild card weekend predictions with some great matchups. – Nothing to look into with Buffalo’s win over New England. New England was using the game as a recovery week with nothing to play for. – The Jets played very well in their send off game for, now former, head coach Rex Ryan. The Dolphins let a...

Week 17 NFL Predictions – 2014

Last week I finished with a 10-6 record in my NFL predictions, missing on Washington, Miami, Houston, New York [Giants], Oakland and Cincinnati. – Washington played the spoiler for Philadelphia in a well-played game. This is the perfect example of the unknown with divisional games. It’s two teams that don’t like each other and know each other better than you know yourself. This week could feature a couple of these sorts of outcomes. – I was so close with Minnesota. The Vikings, despite their loss to Miami, are...

Week 16 NFL Predictions – 2014

I was 9-7 last week in my predictions. Maybe a few too many “upset picks”, but this week will be better. I missed on Arizona, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Carolina, New York [Jets], Denver and New Orleans. – Arizona’s defense was dominant against the Rams last week. I thought St. Louis had found a rhythm offensively in the previous weeks, but Arizona shut whatever it was down completely. My first upset pick to go astray… – Pittsburgh is hard to figure out, but last week they won a game they were supposed to win...

Week 15 NFL Predictions – 2014

I was 11-5 last week with my picks, only missing on Pittsburgh, Carolina, Baltimore, Seattle and Oakland. – Pittsburgh always seems to have the Bengals number. That’s the team you expect to see week-in and week-out, but they still lack consistency. Look out for their matchup in Week 17 at Pittsburgh. Will likely be huge for the playoff picture and Cincinnati still has talent even if Andy Dalton appears to be their kryptonite at times. – I don’t even know what has happened to the Saints this season. Carolina looked...

Week 14 NFL Predictions – 2014

Last week was a 9-7 week for me. I missed on Philadelphia, Seattle, San Diego, Jacksonville, New Orleans, Atlanta and Denver. – Philadelphia demonstrated, once again, the firepower they possess on offense. Dallas couldn’t control time of possession enough to keep them off the field and we saw the limitations of the Dallas defense on display. This isn’t over in the NFC East, but Dallas may have a hard time matching up with the Eagles. Some teams just seem to be another’s kryptonite. – Seattle played well on the...
